XMG has launched its latest Fusion 15 and Core 15 gaming laptops, which boast bright, 240 Hz, 16:10 displays alongside the latest Intel Core i9-14900HX and AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS CPUs and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPUs.

XMG is no stranger to high-performance gaming laptops, and its latest line-up of Intel- and AMD-powered gaming devices presents a no-frills alternative to the likes of the Lenovo Legion 5i and Asus ROG Zephyrus G16. XMG is announcing two new devices today: the XMG Core 15 and Fusion 15.

The XMG Fusion 15 is the most powerful of the two devices on offer, with either an Intel Core i7-14650HX or Core i9-14900HX paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 or GeForce RTX 4070 GPU and up to 64 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM.

XMG Core 15, on the other hand, offers only the eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB and up to 96 GB of dual-channel DDR5-5600 RAM.

In demanding scenarios, the XMG Fusion 15 will let its CPU and GPU boost to a combined TDP of 205 W peak and 160 W sustained, while the CPU and GPU can individually peak at 140 W each, with the CPU limited to 105 W sustained. The Core 15, on the other hand, tops out at 190 W peak and 160 W sustained combined load, with individual limitations set to 90 W peak and 80 W sustained on the CPU, with the GPU limited to 140 W sustained.

Both the Fusion 15 and Core 15 have impressive displays, featuring the same 240 Hz, 2560×1600, 500-nit 16:10 IPS displays with 100% sRGB coverage and variable refresh rate support — FreeSync for the Core 15 and Adaptive Sync for the Fusion 15.

As is typical for XMG, there is baked-in support for CPU and GPU configuration, with firmware support for manual undervolting on the Intel-powered Fusion 15. Both machines feature an "advanced control centre with customisable power limits, fan curves, and display profiles," and three pre-configured performance modes similar to what's available on Lenovo's Legion laptops, as well as a clean Windows installation without third-party software.

Ports abound with the Fusion 15 and Core 15, as well, with both devices offering 3×USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, 2×USB-C ports — one is USB 3.2 Gen1 without support for DisplayPort or Power Delivery or, and the other is USB 3.2 Gen2 with support for DisplayPort 1.4a and Power Delivery. There's also an HDMI 2.1 port on the rear with G-Sync support, as well as a Mini DisplayPort 1.4a port with G-Sync and a full-sized SD card reader for creative types.

The two devices share chassis designs, with both featuring a minimalist aluminium top case, keyboard deck, and bottom case. All-in-all, the Core 15 and Fusion 15 measure in at just 21.5 mm thick, and the Core weighs in at 2 kg, while the Fusion is just a hair heavier, at 2.1 kg.

Both devices also feature a physical webcam shutter, Windows Hello support, and MUX switches, allowing users to disable integrated graphics for a performance boost or disable the Nvidia GPU for battery life benefits.

In terms of pricing, XMG has the Core 15 selling for €1,399 in the EU, while the Fusion 15 starts at €1,599 with the Core i7 and RTX 4060 options, while the Core i9 and RTX 4070 variant jumps up to €2,092.01 including tax. This puts the XMG Core 15 ahead of the Lenovo Legion 5 16, which starts at €1,649.01 for a similar configuration. Buyers in the US, however, can get hold of the Legion 5 with a similar configuration for as little as $1,199.99.
