XMG introduces EVO 14 / 15 ultrabooks powered by AMD's Ryzen 7 8845HS and Intel's Core Ultra 7 155H
XMG is launching a new ultrabook lineup called EVO, which includes the company’s first models that do not come with any dGPU options, solely relying on the iGPU power provided by the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H and AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processors. This brand new lineup features 14-inch and 15.3-inch models with premium specs such as large batteries, efficient dual fan coolers, replaceable storage and RAM, as well as robust connectivity.
In order to allow the processors to run at higher-than-standard TDPs (65 W for AMD and 80 W for Intel, but only for 1 minute, sustained remain set to 60 W and 70 W, respectively). According to XMG’s internal testing, the 80 W TDP boost allows the Intel processor to pull ahead in Cinebench R23 single and multi-core tests; however, the cooling system is slightly noisier at 38 dBA, Speaking of the cooling component, XMG is equipping the new EVO models with advanced cooling systems that integrate dual fans, phase-changing Honeywell PTM7958 thermal pads, and an all-aluminium chassis, excluding the display frame.
The EVO 14 model measures 311 x 220 x 17 mm and weighs 1.4 kg. On the display side, there is a LTPS IPS panel with 2880 x 1800 resolution, variable refresh rate up to 120 Hz, 400 nit brightness and 100% sRGB color gamut. It also packs an 80 Wh battery. This variant is missing the numpad keyboard.
In contrast, the EVO 15 variant is slightly heavier at 1.7 kg, with a chassis that measures 342 x 240 x 19.9 mm. The display on this model has a lower resolution of 2560 x 1600, but it is brighter at 500 nits and gets a faster refresh rate at 240 Hz, while the color gamut is the same. Battery is larger too, with a 99.8 Wh capacity. Given the slightly larger design, the numpad keyboard is present.
As for identical specs, both variants support up to 96 GB DDR5-4800 or up to 64 GB DDR5-5600 RAM, and the storage side comes with two M.2 PCIe 4.0 slots. Port selection is generous, featuring Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 with DP 2.1, 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen1, USB-A 2.0, USB-C 3.2 Gen2 (with DisplayPort 1.4a and Power Delivery), HDMI 2.0b (HDMI 2.1 with 18 Gbps), Gigabit LAN and 2-in-1 audio jacks, plus a full-size SD Express / SDXC UHS-II card reader. Wireless connectivity is ensured via a Wi-Fi 5E + BT 5.3 card. The included FHD webcam comes with an IR sensor for Windows Hello and a mechanical privacy shutter. XMG decided to drop the Copilot key on both variants.
Price-wise, the EVO 14 starts at €949 (AMD) or €1,099 (Intel). For the base configuration of the EVO 15, XMG charges €1,049 (AMD) or €1,199 (Intel). The base configuration of the XMG EVO 14 and XMG EVO 15 (M24), which can be freely configured on bestware.com, includes AMD’s Ryzen 7 8845HS or Intel’s Core Ultra 7 155H, 16 GB (2x8 GB) DDR5-4800 RAM, a 500 GB SSD, and a 1880p (EVO 14) or 1600p (EVO 15) display. Both variants are available for pre-order immediately and are expected to be shipped from the end of July. For the product launch, all configurations of the XMG EVO series laptops are 5 percent off until July 31st.
