The M24 refreshed version of the XMG PRO 16 Studio is launching with an improved gen 14 Intel Core HX processor and lighter design even though it still features the highly efficient large vapor chamber cooling system from the previous iteration. The graphics options are unchanged, however, capping at an RTX 4070 mobile GPU.
Replacing last year’s i9-13900H is the i9-14900HX processor with 24 cores and 32 threads. XMG internal tests point out that the newer CPU can score 28,271 points in the Cinebench R23 multi-core test, while the gen 13 model was scoring 19,310 points. The GPU options have not been modified, so users can choose between an RTX 4060 and an RTX 4070 mobile GPU with 140 W maximum TGP.
Another noticeable performance boost is added by supporting the DDR5-5600 RAM spec over the previous DDR5-5200 limit. However, the DDR5-5600 spec only works with 16 and 32 GB configurations, as the 64 GB one is still limited to DDR5-5200 due to Intel’s architecture. Storage is handled via 2x PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots.
Despite retaining the same aluminum chassis from the previous version, the M24 models are slightly lighter at 2.3 kg versus 2.56 kg. They also have the same 19.9 mm profile and integrate the excellent vapor chamber cooling system that is tuned for lower noise at full performance.
Display-wise, the M24 version is not bringing any improvements over the previous 16-inch IPS panel with 2560 x 1600 resolution, 240 Hz refresh, ~95% sRGB color gamut and X-Rite factory calibration. The port selection has not changed either, including a Thunderbolt 4 connector, another USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, microSD card reader, HDMI 3.2 and DP 1.4 video outs plus 2.5 GbE and audio jacks. Wireless connectivity is offered by a Wi-Fi 6E + BT 5.3 card, and the system also features an FHD webcam, as well as a 73 Wh battery.
Prices start at €1,699 for the base configuration with an RTX 4060, 16 GB DDR5-5600 RAM and 500 GB SSD. The RTX 4070 option adds €295 to the total price. Pre-orders are now possible from Bestware, but the M24 models are expected to ship in early June.
