Initially announced only with Intel Arrow Lake mobile processors, the NEO 16 2025 laptops are now launching with additional AMD Ryzen 9000/X3D APU options. The E25 (Intel) and A25 (AMD) variants are available for pre-sale with RTX 5090 / 5080 / 5070 Ti GPU options, up to 96 GB RAM, up to dual 8 TB SSD storage and up to a 16-inch Mini LED 300 Hz 2560 x 1600 display.

Earlier this year, at CES 2025, XMG / Schenker announced the 2025 lineup for the NEO 16 laptops powered by the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processors. These models are now available for pre-sale, but XMG wanted to cater to AMD’s fans as well, so the NEO 16 2025 lineup also includes AMD options up to a powerful Ryzen 9 9955HX3D.

Specs

The NEO 16 E25 models feature the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor with 8  P-cores plus 16 E-cores, while the NEO 16 A25 is equipped with either the Ryzen 9 9955HX or the 9955HX3D variant featuring 16 Zen 5 cores and 32 threads.

For GPU options, XMG offers the RTX 5070 Ti with 12 GB VRAM and 140 W TGP,  as well as the RTX 5080 with 16 GB VRAM and the RTX 5090 with 24 GB VRAM, both with 175 W TGP.

XMG further improved the Oasis external water cooling unit (Mk2-V4) and offers it as a solid option for maximized cooling efficiency. The new V4 model Ifatures a quieter pump and replaces the previous magnetic connector with a snap-in mounting solution, while the connectors remain self-sealing. Although the standard air cooling system of the compact 16-inch laptop already enables high sustained performance, the XMG Oasis allows for even greater performance with lower noise levels by reducing thermal constraints, especially for the RTX 5090 GPU.

Depending on the budget, users may choose between two 16-inch 16:10 display options:

  • 300 Hz IPS panel with 2560 x 1600 resolution, G-SYNC + Advanced Optimus, 500 nit maximum brightness, 100% srGB color gamut
  • Mini LED display with same resolution and refresh rate, but with up to 1000 nit HDR and 750 nit SDR brightness, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut.

As far as chassis design goes, the all-aluminium case of the laptop, which includes a 99.8 Wh battery, measures 356.7 x 259.9 x 27.9 mm. Weight varies depending on the display choice, with the more energy-efficient IPS panel at around 2.65 kg and the more power-intensive Mini LED panel at around 2.8 kg. The chassis retains the overall design of its predecessor but is slightly more rigid. The front of the laptop now features a larger RGB LED light bar, which can be disabled if preferred.

Speaking of overall weight, the package now includes lighter power supplies with silicon carbide semiconductors. The RTX 5080 / 590 models include a 179 x 81 x 27 mm PSU weighing 834 g, whereas the RTX 5070 Ti models come with a smaller 65 x 75 x 25 mm unit weighing 751 g.

On the storage side, XMG offers support for up to dual 8 TB M.2 SSDs, one with PCIe 5.0 and one with PCIe 4.0 specs. RAM capacity is currently set to 96 GB max, but XMG is working to enable up to 128 GB RAM capacities. The Intel model supports DDR5-6400 RAM, while the AMD one only DDR5-5600 RAM modules.

Port selection differs between the two models. While both Intel and AMD models now come with a Mini DisplayPort 2.1 (DP80), the Intel versions support Thunderbolt 4 with an integrated DisplayPort 2.1 (DP80) at the rear, but the AMD models only feature USB-C 3.2 Gen2 with integrated DisplayPort 1.4a mode. Additionally, the left-side USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port supports DisplayPort 1.4a and Power Delivery with 100W. Other connectivity options include a high-speed full-size SD card reader with SD Express compatibility, three USB-A ports, 2.5 Gigabit LAN + Wi-Fi 6E, HDMI 2.1, and a 2-in-1 audio jack.
