Yesterday, AMD announced the RX 9070 and the RX 9070 XT, the debut RDNA 4 cards that have now kicked off a new generation of GPUs from Team Red. Starting March 6th, fans of AMD Radeon cards can get their hands on the $549 RX 9070 and the $599 RX 9070 XT.
However, even though the RX 9070 and 9070 XT appear to be placed quite well against their GeForce competitors, especially the RX 9070 XT, the cards are still not budget offerings. That role is to be fulfilled by the RX 9060 and the RX 9060 XT. AMD states that the RX 9060 boards are coming later this year. As always, we won’t have to wait for AMD to divulge details regarding the RX 9060/XT cards thanks to leaks and rumors that surface online.
One such leak from Moore’s Law Is Dead has now revealed the release date and expected performance of the RX 9060 XT.
RX 9060 XT release date and performance
Moore’s Law Is Dead claims that the RX 9060 XT will be released in April, the start of Q2 2025. The leaker further claims that the RX 9060 XT is likely to offer performance between the RTX 4060 Ti and the RX 7700 XT. Per our 3DMark Time Spy Graphics benchmark runs, the RX 7700 XT is around 26% faster than the RTX 4060 Ti. So, there is a 26% delta where the RX 9060 XT can slot in.
MLID thinks that the RX 9060 XT can even approach the RTX 4070 if AMD decides to push the clocks.
That said, MLID’s information comes from just one source. So, take the information with a giant grain of salt.
