MINISFORUM V3: New Surface Pro 10 competitor released globally for $1,199 with AMD Ryzen 7 8840U, 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB SSD
MINISFORUM has now released its first 2-in-1 globally, having presented the device at the end of last month. For reference, only a few days have passed since the company began selling the EliteMini UM690 Pro (curr. $519.99 on Amazon), full details of which we have covered separately. As for the V3, MINISFORUM lists the following highlights on its product page:
- AMD Ryzen 7 8840U APU (28 W)
- 32 GB LPDDR5-6400 RAM
- 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD
- 50.82 Wh battery
- Quad speakers
- 2x USB 4 ports
- 1x USB Type-C (DisplayPort-In support/VLink)
- 1x SD card slot
Additionally, the MINISFORUM V3 has a 14-inch IPS display that outputs at 2,560 x 1,600 pixels with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 165 Hz refresh rate. While MINISFORUM claims that the display peaks at 500 nits, TechTablets has measured his review sample reaching 523 nits using professional equipment. Incidentally, the same YouTuber noted that the V3 occasionally refused to enter its high performance 28 W APU mode in some synthetic benchmarks.
Moreover, TechTablets observed that the magnets inside the device's keyboard cover and kickstand were relatively weak. As a result, the kickstand portion has a tendency to disconnect from the V3 itself. Please see the embedded below for more impressions before our full review arrives. Currently, MINISFORUM is running an early bird program that reduces the V3 by £200 in the UK, $300 in the US and €340 in the Eurozone to £1,159, $1,199 and €1,359, respectively.
Although on the expensive side, it is worth noting that this price includes a keyboard accessory, active stylus, tempered glass screen protector and a laptop sleeve. As far as we can tell, the company's early bird offer will run until May 28, which also appears to be when pre-orders will begin shipping. Please see MINISFORUM's product page for more information.
