Next Microsoft Surface hardware event revealed for rumoured releases of Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6

Earlier this month Microsoft revealed details about its next Surface event, full details of which we have covered separately. In summary, the wording of Microsoft's invite implied that new Surface product would be ancillaries to larger Copilot and Windows announcements. Nonetheless, this suggestion aligned with rumours of Microsoft returning to its Surface Pro 7 Plus formula by introducing the Surface Laptop 5 Plus and Surface Pro 9 Plus.

The company's latest media invite reinforces this claim, too. According to The Verge, Windows Central and XDA Developers, Microsoft has informed them it has scheduled another Surface event less than two months after its upcoming March 21 event. The trio add that the event will occur on May 20, 24 hours before Microsoft Build 2024 which runs between May 21 and May 23. Thus, Microsoft will have presented new Surface products on two occasions this spring within two months of each other.

Based on recent leaks, Microsoft will unveil the Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10 on May 20. On the one hand, both are expected to arrive sporting Snapdragon X Elite-derived chipsets as Microsoft looks to challenge Apple's recent ARM adoption across its Mac product stack. On the other hand, only the Surface Pro 10 is anticipated to receive an anti-reflective OLED display and an ultra-wide-angle front-facing webcam. With that being said, the Surface Laptop 6 is rumoured to contain a haptic touchpad, thinner display bezels and a second USB Type-C port, among other changes from the Surface Laptop 5 (curr. $770.33 on Amazon) and Surface Laptop 5 Plus.
