Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 Plus and Surface Pro 9 Plus rumoured to launch later this month under different names
The Verge and Windows Central have shared new details about the state of Microsoft's next hardware launch event. To recap, the former asserted at the end of January that the Surface Laptop 5 Plus and Surface Pro 9 Plus would be arriving in the spring as minor Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 refreshes.
As we discussed at the time, these new devices were expected to launch with Microsoft's 'for Business' moniker, just like the Surface Go 4 did last September. With that being said, neither the Surface Laptop 5 Plus nor the Surface Pro 9 Plus would be exclusive to commercial customers. However, Microsoft allows anyone to purchase 'for Business' devices, regardless of the account you hold with them.
According to Windows Central, Microsoft will unveil both devices on March 21. Incidentally, leaker WalkingCat implied as much over a month ago, details of which we have covered separately. With that being said, the website now implies that the Surface Laptop 5 Plus and Surface Pro 9 Plus will launch as the Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10 instead. Seemingly, these will differ from Microsoft's forthcoming consumer-focused machines of the same names though, details of which we have covered separately.
Windows Central adds that Microsoft hopes to begin shipping what The Verge describes as 'minor commercial refreshes' in April, although it is unclear exactly when. Similarly, neither state what processors will underpin either model. However, Windows Central now reports that the pair will feature Core Ultra processors, narrowing its previous claims to Meteor Lake parts. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether these will be Meteor Lake-U or Meteor Lake-H processors like the Core Ultra 7 155U or Core Ultra 7 155H, respectively.
