MINISFORUM continues to offer up tidbits about the V3, a 2-in-1 that it has been teasing since September 2023. Most recently, the company outlined full specifications and hinted at a late March 2024 release date. Now, the company has revealed the device's exact launch date, as well as its early performance in 3DMark Time Spy, Cinebench R23, and CPU-Z with its AMD Ryzen 7 8840U APU.
Although we have not tested the Ryzen 7 8840U yet, MINISFORUM's benchmark results put the APU right in line with the Ryzen 7 7840U upon which it is based. For example, the MINISFORUM V3 achieved 1,773 points and 13,397 points in Cinebench R23 single-core and multi-core benchmarks, putting it 4.72% and 9.73% ahead, respectively, of our median Ryzen 7 7840U benchmark results. With that being said, the Ryzen 7 8840U here only outperformed our highest Ryzen 7 7840U single-core score in Cinebench R23 by 1.77% and is 11.12% down on our best multi-core result with the same APU.
Similarly, the MINISFORUM V3 fared well in 3DMark Time Spy CPU and GPU tests, where it achieved 8,949 and 2,806 scores. Moreover, the company highlights the APU's performance in CPU-Z V17 with single-core and multi-core scores of 667.8 and 5,791.6, all while averaging a 27.97 W CPU package power. MINISFORUM will release the V3 on March 29 with a 14-inch and 165 Hz display, a 50 Wh battery, and up to 32 GB of LPDDR5-6400 RAM.
