At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, ZTE unveiled an unusual mid-range smartphone, the back of which is divided into four color areas. Although the camera module is discreetly designed, this does not apply to the gigantic speaker on the back, whose look is reminiscent of a vinyl record.
In conjunction with a powerful amplifier and an AI algorithm, the large speaker is said to achieve a 600 percent higher volume than conventional smartphones, making the use of an external Bluetooth speaker superfluous. If you prefer to listen to music with headphones instead, you can invite a friend to listen together, as the Nubia Music has two 3.5 mm headphone jacks - a feature already familiar from the first Sony Walkman.
Nubia includes a special music app that rounds off the vinyl-like look and adds an RGB strip to the edge of the screen that is animated to match the music. The Nubia Music has an unspecified Unisoc processor, a 90 Hz 720p+ display, a 50 megapixel dual camera, a 5,000 mAh battery, and up to 8 GB of RAM, although Nubia refers to this as "Dynamic RAM", meaning that this figure already includes swap and the actual available RAM should be less.
Prices and availability
ZTE has not yet confirmed any details on the price and availability of the Nubia Music, but in terms of features, it is likely to be a relatively affordable mid-range smartphone.
