TCL's new smartphones have debuted at MWC - all 7 of them, thereby comprising the most variants the OEM has ever made for the same line of mobile devices. Accordingly, the OEM is confident that there is a 50-series handset for every consumer, those interested in the potential benefits of NXTPAPER 3.0 included.
TCL asserts that its latest low-blue-light technology brings all the advantages of e-ink (the paper-like lack of glare included) to typical mobile device displays. It is integrated into 6.6-inch 90Hz HD+ and 6.8-inch 120Hz FHD+ displays in the 50 XE NXTPAPER 5G and 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G respectively, both of which will also have 50MP main cameras.
Alternatively, there is the 50 5G with the same display as the non-NXTPAPER 50 XE but without the 50MP camera and starting with 4GB of RAM, while the 50 SE is touted as an entertainment powerhouse with the non-NXTPAPER 50 XL's screen, 12GB of RAM and "DTS 3D boom sound dual speakers".
Then again, the 50 LE is also an option. It has its series' 90Hz display, albeit with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and the smallest battery of the line at 4,000mAh, as opposed to 5,010mAh for the rest of its siblings.
Accordingly, it is projected to start at just "around $99". Then again, TCL has yet to determine where it will be sold, whereas the 50 5G and SE are more definitely headed for EMEA markets for ~€149 (~$161) each in 2024's second quarter (2Q2024).
The TCL 50 XL 5G, on the other hand, is coming to the US via Metro for $169 or less in 2Q2024, whereas the XE might arrive unlocked for ~$149 in 3Q2024. Their top-end NXTPAPER counterparts might also be released at around the same time for ~$229 and ~$199.
