Apple’s 2022 MacBook Pro 13 was the first notebook to pack the Apple M2 processor. While it looks like the same laptop as its predecessor, the newer chip does make it a more capable machine. More specifically, in our review, the 2022 model got a very respectable score of 92%. That means we liked almost all that it brought to the table.
Of course, it’s the Apple M2 that’s the first thing we liked in the 2022 MacBook Pro 13. It’s a solid upgrade from the M1 CPU, with the newer chip performing much better than its predecessor in our benchmarks. But the updated processor doesn’t only bring an upgrade in terms of performance.
The Apple M2 is also more efficient than the M1, which makes the 2022 MacBook Pro 13 capable of offering a very long runtime even though it packs more power. In our review, we found the 58.2 Wh battery can last for more than 19 hours, which is identical to the previous MacBook model.
As for the build quality, it’s the same as the predecessor, meaning that it’s as premium as Apple laptops can get. The 2022 MacBook Pro 13 also adheres to the same iconic design, so you won’t find anything off if you’re upgrading from an older model.
Other than that, we liked the display and speakers of this Apple M2-powered laptop. In our tests, its IPS panel could deliver an sRGB coverage of 100%, 98.8% in DCI-P3, and 87.9% in AdobeRGB 1998. But it’s true that you can get a notebook with an OLED screen with possibly better performance for around the same price.
Speaking of which, the Apple M2 MacBook Pro 13 is now more affordable than ever. It’s sitting at its all-time low price of $1,099 on Best Buy for the config with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD.
