In January, MediaTek scored significant victories over Qualcomm, as Dimensity chips are currently at the top of the AnTuTu performance charts both in the mid-range and flagships, where the Dimensity 9300 in the Oppo Find X7 Hasselblad flagship outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Qualcomm's dominance in the AnTuTu performance charts is over, at least for the time being, as the Oppo Find X7 based on the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 outperforms the iQOO 12 Pro and the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro, both of which are equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

However, the ranking of the three best-placed flagships in January 2024 is so close that these differences are unlikely to be relevant in practice. Places 4-7 go to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while places 8-10 go to the MediaTek Dimensity 9300. The race for the performance crown is becoming increasingly tight and is likely to come to a head again at the end of February at the latest, when brand new flagships are unveiled at the Mobile World Congress.

MediaTek also comes out on top in the midrange, even with a relatively large lead. The Redmi K70E and its MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra achieved an impressive 1.38 million points, putting it around 20% ahead of the Realme GT Neo5 SE with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. The more modern ARM Cortex-A715 performance cores apparently allow a higher CPU performance than the combination of one ARM Cortex-X1 and three Cortex-A710s.

Apart from two smartphones with Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, the best list only includes smartphones with MediaTek Dimensity 8100 or 8200. In the midrange price segment, smartphones such as the Oppo Reno11 5G, the Redmi K60E or the Realme GT Neo 3 may be worth a look.
