Microsoft has now confirmed the date for its next Surface event, which will occur roughly six months after the company presented the Surface Go 4, Surface Laptop Go 3 and Surface Laptop Studio 2. As the screenshot below shows, any Surface releases appear to play third fiddle to Copilot and Windows, with Microsoft's tagline billing its March 21 event as 'advancing the new era of work with Copilot'. Thus, it seems that Microsoft will spend more time talking about software improvements rather than any new hardware that it may have created.
For context, the confirmation of a March 21 launch event appeared shortly after details of new devices powered by Intel Core Ultra 5 processors leaked online. Currently, the names of these devices remain, with Surface Laptop 5 Plus and Surface Pro 9 Plus or Surface Laptop 6 for Business and Surface Pro 10 for Business being touted. However, both products are expected to retain current Surface Laptop and Surface Pro designs, just as the Surface Pro 7 Plus did in early 2021 before the Surface Pro 8 arrived with an overhauled design in September of the same year.
In short, Microsoft's 'digital event' will not be when the company brings forth its long-awaited Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10 releases, the latter of which is rumoured to feature an OLED display. Instead, The Verge asserts that these will be presented this spring with a view to June shipments.
