Microsoft Surface Go 4 now orderable from US$579.99 for consumers and businesses
Yesterday's Surface launch event was arguably Microsoft's quietest in recent years. Not only did the company decide against live streaming the event, but it also spent most of its time unveiling AI-related software refinements rather than Surface products. For some reason, Microsoft decided against showcasing the Surface Go 4 too, which it has announced as the Surface Go 4 for Business.
Conversely, it demonstrated the Surface Laptop Go 3 and Surface Laptop Studio 2, launch articles for which we have published separately. As expected, Microsoft has based the Surface Go 4 on the Processor N200, a quad-core processor from Intel's Alder Lake-N family. According to the company's technical specifications, it has complemented the Processor N200 with 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS flash storage.

Theoretically, the Surface Go 4 should offer considerable performance upgrades over its predecessor while retaining a 245 x 175 x 8.3 mm and 521 g footprint. Moreover, Microsoft claims to have improved serviceability, with replaceable components now including the following:
- Back cover
- Battery
- Display
- Front camera
- Hinge
- Kickstand
- MicroSDXC card reader
- Motherboard
- Rear camera
- Speakers
- Type Cover connector
- Windows Hello camera
For some reason, Microsoft has not confirmed the Surface Go 4's battery capacity, with 'up to 12.5 hours of typical device usage' listed instead. Seemingly, the Surface Go 4 retains its predecessor's display, which Microsoft lists as a 10.5-inch panel with a 1,920 x 1,080-pixel native resolution, 350 nits peak brightness, a 1,500:1 contrast ratio and a 3:2 aspect ratio.
Surprisingly, Microsoft has decided against releasing a Surface Go 4 with LTE connectivity though, somewhat undermining the device's business credentials. The Surface Go 4 starts at US$579.99 with 64 GB of storage but can be configured with 128 GB or 256 GB of storage for US$679.99 and US$779.99, respectively. Although Microsoft informed The Verge that the Surface Go 4 is 'available exclusively for organizations', the device appears to be freely orderable on its website.
