A new smartphone has joined Samsung's already burgeoning mid-range roster. Surprisingly, the company has elected to announce the device as the Galaxy M14 4G, almost a year after it released the Galaxy M14 5G.

Only a few days have passed since Samsung introduced the Galaxy F15 5G, a mid-range smartphone that was expected to be followed by the Galaxy A35 5G and Galaxy A55 5G. Instead, the company has released a 4G version of the Galaxy M14, almost a year to the day after announcing its 5G counterpart. Predictably, the Galaxy M14 4G carries over much of what Samsung included in the Galaxy M14 5G, including its 50 MP primary, 13 MP front-facing, 2 MP depth and 2 MP macro cameras.

Additionally, the new 4G model has a 90 Hz LCD screen that outputs at 1080p. However, the Galaxy M14 4G has a 0.1-inch larger display than its 5G sibling, albeit with a 1,000 mAh smaller battery capacity. Still, a 5,000 mAh battery and 25 W wired charging puts the Galaxy M14 4G in line with Samsung's other recent mid-range handsets. Similarly, the company offers its new 4G handset with 128 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM, although 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM is also sold as a cheaper alternative.

Samsung has made other changes between 4G and 5G models too, such as equipping the former with a Snapdragon 680 chipset instead of the Exynos 1330 found in the Galaxy M14 5G. Unfortunately, the Galaxy M14 4G ships with Android 13 rather than Android 14. As such, Samsung's promise of two OS updates will only leave it running this year's Android 15, presumably through One UI 7. For now, the Galaxy M14 4G is an Indian exclusive, where it is available for INR 8,499 (~$103) and INR 11,499 (~$139) with 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM, respectively. While Samsung has not confirmed availability outside India yet, it does sell the Galaxy M14 5G globally.
