Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra rumoured to be launching alongside Galaxy Z Fold6 instead of Galaxy Z Fold FE
Roland Quandt and WinFuture have shed new light on Samsung's plans for the Galaxy Z Fold series, as has Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC). In short, all parties maintain that two Galaxy Z Fold devices are being developed with a view to releasing them simultaneously under the banner of the Galaxy Z Fold6 series.
Previously, there had been rumours that Samsung was preparing a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy Z Fold6 under the codename 'Q6A', akin to the company's Galaxy Tab S and Galaxy Tab A lines. Now, Quandt asserts that Samsung will head in the opposite direction by introducing an 'Ultra' model, mirroring a change that occurred four years ago with the Galaxy S series. Citing unnamed sources, Quandt reports that Q6A actually relates to the Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra, with SM-F956 and 'Q6' assigned to the regular Galaxy Z Fold6.
However, Quandt has not shared about the ways in which the Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra will differ from the Galaxy Z Fold6. Conversely, Young claims to have heard of at least two distinguishing factors. On the one hand, the Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra will support pen input, which the Galaxy Z Fold6 will lack. On the other hand, Young implies that the Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra could also feature slightly larger displays, albeit only by 0.5-inches in both cases. Incidentally, Samsung's next-generation foldable smartphones could launch earlier than usual, details of which we have covered separately.
