Famed leaker Digital Chat Station has backed Vivo to unleash even more sophisticated foldable smartphone technology on the market in 2024; now, the tipster is back on this subject in greater detail this time.
The prodigious Weibo account's new post does not call the device in question out by name; then again, as it purports to provides a deeper dive into an upcoming foldable with Vivo's 50W wireless charging as well as a 120W wired standard, it most likely pertains to the alleged Pro variant of the hypothetical X Fold3 series.
Should that be the case, the 3 Pro might be roughly the same size and shape as the X Fold2, with a 8.03-inch main display and 6.53-inch cover display. However, both newer panels might be more pixel-rich at 2480 x 2200 and 2748 x 1172 respectively, compared to 2160 x 1916 and 2520 x 1080 in the current Vivo flagship.
Both displays are believed to pack high-end ultrasonic fingerprint sensors and are, as before, tipped to run using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC - with a Vivo V3 co-processor to boot - which might be paired to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of more than likely fixed storage. For context, the X Fold2 'only' got as far as 12/512GB configurations in 2023.
Its alleged Pro successor is once again tipped to launch with the OmniVision OV50H as a main camera, whereas the periscope zoom shooter thought to be located above it might be the OV64B. However, its battery might be an even more significant upgrade at an estimated 5,550mAh to 5,800mAh (possibly typical and rated capacity respectively), whereas the X Fold2 is sold as an already class-leading 4,800mAh device.
Finally, the X Fold3 Pro is tipped to launch with perks such as water-resistance, IR blaster support, X-axis haptics and a markedly light weight despite its glass back. Then again, that all adds up to a potentially pricey foldable smartphone, even compared to the X Fold2 that currently starts at €1,227 (~$1,331) on TradingShenzhen.
