Honor releases another update for Magic V2 globally amid rumours of July 2024 rollout for Android 14 and MagicOS 8 upgrade
The Magic V2 has received another update globally, less than a month after Honor released MagicOS 7.2.0.124 for the device. This time, the company has pushed an update package totalling over 400 MB, although it appears to make only minor improvements. Specifically, the Magic V2 has been updated to MagicOS 7.20.132, which carries the build number C431E1R2P2.
In other words, the Magic V2 remains adrift on Android 13. By contrast, competitors have all received Android 14, including those that debuted after Google finalised Android 14 like the OnePlus Open (curr. $1,499.99 on Amazon). Allegedly, MagicOS 7.20.132 makes changes in four areas. Unfortunately, most are undefined, such as system performance, system stability and home screen layout optimisations. Moreover, MagicOS 7.20.132 brings the Magic V2 onto the February 2024 Android security patch and not Google's newer March 2024 equivalents.
For some reason, the handset is still only eligible for the January 2024 Google Play system update, despite Google having since published February and March 2024 updates. Supposedly, Honor will not release Android 14 for global versions of the Magic V2 until July 2024 at the earliest, which it will distribute as MagicOS 8. If that proves to be the case, then the Magic V2 may still be running Android 13 by the time that Samsung releases the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra.
