Vivo X Fold3 Pro early camera samples detail hardware upgrades with impressive zoom shots
Vivo has not yet officially confirmed the release of its next-generation foldable. The publication of early camera samples by Xinhua News Agency on Weibo suggests that it will not be long before the company does, though. For context, the camera samples appear shortly after the device appeared on AnTuTu, details of which we have covered separately.
As expected, Vivo plans to release an 'X Fold3 Pro'. However, a recent leak claims that the X Fold3 Pro will arrive alongside the X Fold3, a cheaper model that maintains its predecessor's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Additionally, that same leak highlighted that Vivo has equipped the X Fold3 Pro with 50 MP primary and 64 MP periscope telephoto optically-stabilised cameras, apparent examples of which we have embedded below.
For some reason, Xinhua News Agency decided against publishing any shots using the device's reported 50 MP ultra-wide-angle. Nonetheless, the camera samples point to the X Fold3 Pro featuring a primary camera with an f/1.68 aperture and a 23 mm equivalent focal length, which would both be improvements over the X Fold2. In comparison, the device's telephoto camera makes do with an f/2.57 aperture, as well as a 70 mm equivalent focal length.
Based on the images below, the telephoto camera maintains high levels of detail even at long zooms. It is worth noting that the bright lighting conditions of Antarctica would allow the X Fold3 Pro to minimise image noise. Thus, we would recommend waiting for independent X Fold3 Pro reviews before coming to a judgement on its camera capabilities. Even so, it seems like the X Fold3 Pro could increase expectations of what camera hardware could be included within a foldable smartphone.
