Vivo has now fully unveiled the X Fold3, a cheaper option to the also new X Fold3 Pro. Nonetheless, the Vivo X Fold3 contains numerous hardware upgrades over last year's Vivo X Fold2, including a 21.5% weight reduction to 219 g.

Vivo has finally fully revealed the X Fold3 series, which currently consists of the X Fold3 and X Fold3 Pro. As expected, the X Fold3 retains its predecessor's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Vivo has made numerous changes from last year's foldable to help distinguish the two, though.

On the one hand, the X Fold3 measures 159.96 x 72.7~142.69 x 4.65~10.2 mm and weighs 219 g. As a result, the X Fold3 weighs 60 g and 21.5% less than the X Fold2 while also being marginally shorter, slimmer and thinner whether opened or closed. Additionally, the X Fold3 holds the accolade of being the lightest book-style foldable around by undercutting the Magic V2 by about 12 g.

On the other hand, the X Fold3 has a larger battery capacity than both the Magic V2 and X Fold2 at 5,500 mAh. With that being said, Vivo has included 80 W wired charging and no wireless charging support, which are both downgrades on the X Fold2. Conversely, the X Fold3 has higher resolution AMOLED displays than its predecessor. Specifically, the X Fold3's displays operate at 2,480 x 2,200 pixels and 2,748 x 1,172 pixels compared to 2,160 x 1,916 pixels and 2,520 x 1,080 pixels, respectively, in the X Fold2.

Moreover, Vivo has upgraded its camera system between generations. Now, the company installs a triple 50 MP rear-facing set-up, as well as 32 MP front-facing cameras that intersect both displays. The X Fold3 starts at CNY 6,999 (~$970) in China with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. However, the company sells the handset in four memory configurations up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, which retails for CNY 8,999 (~$1,247). Unfortunately, the company has not confirmed whether it will offer the X Fold3 globally yet, which is also true of the X Fold3 Pro that we have covered separately.
