Nubia Flip 5G: Global launch date set for potentially affordable foldable smartphone
It is known as the ZTE Libero Flip in Japan; however, Nubia has now apparently confirmed that it will switch to its branding as the simple Flip 5G on its release to markets such as Europe.
As the name suggests, Nubia's Flip 5G has the same basic form-factor as the ~$900 Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5; however, it is thought to fall into the same price-bracket as the ~$500 Motorola Razr 2023 thanks to its sub-flagship Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC.
Then again, the user still gets a 6.9-inch main display and a 4,310mAh battery with relatively fast 33W charging, not to mention a (nearly) distinctive round cover display/camera hump.
If Nubia wants its intention to bring more competition to the global foldable smartphone space taken seriously, it has picked a strange day to announce its launch: April 1, 2024. However, presuming its new teaser is genuine, the Flip 5G will go live in 8 days, on April 9 at 13:00 CET.
In the meantime, Nubia claims that there is a chance to win the Flip 5G for free in exchange for a sign-up to its mailing list online.
