Xiaomi will launch its next premium foldable smartphone much later in the year. The Mix Fold 4 will be the next entry in the company's foldable lineup and will rival devices like the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Google Pixel Fold 2, thanks to a slew of upgrades it's now been tipped to receive.
As revealed by Digital Chat Station, the Mix Fold 4 will come equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, plus up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Two-way satellite communications is mooted as well, but more importantly, the Mix Fold 4 is expected to sport a battery bigger than what the competition offers, with the leaker touting a capacity north of 5000 mAh. Comparatively, the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Pixel Fold feature 4400 mAh and 4821 mAh batteries respectively. 120 W wired charging can be expected as well.
The Mix Fold 4 is said to launch with a new hinge design. Admittedly, every new foldable claims an improved hinge, but the Mix Fold 4 is touted to further eliminate the crease. Reportedly, the foldable will get significant improvements on the camera side as well. A new, bigger 50 MP sensor with a large aperture is mooted, along with a periscope zoom lens.
Interestingly, the Mix Fold 4 is also expected to feature waterproofing, which would make it one of the few foldables on the market with that feature alongside the Galaxy Z Fold5 and upcoming Galaxy Z Fold6. Devices like the OnePlus Open and Pixel Fold do not offer waterproofing.
