Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 launched with a colossal screen and premium Leica-branded camera hardware
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is finally here after weeks of leaks and speculation. Like its predecessors, it doesn't skimp on quality and offers some of the best hardware money can buy and comes with a matching price tag. For now, it is only available in China, but a global launch should follow suit soon.
Starting with its innards, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 So and a 5,100 mAh battery that supports 67 Watt charging over a cable and 50 Watts wirelessly. Like the Redmi K70 Ultra Extreme Edition, it comes with Xiaomi's in-house Surge chips for better energy management. You can configure the foldable with up to 1 TB of storage and 16 GB of memory.
Next up, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 comes with a colossal 7.98-inch primary screen with an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120 Hz, 3,000 nits peak brightness, 1,700 nits average brightness, and a PWM frequency of 2,160 Hz. Its inner screen measure 6.56 inches and has identical specs, along with a layer of Xiaomi Shield Glass for protection.
Despite its large screen size, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 weighs just 226 grams and is just 9.47mm thick when folded. It comes with a new hinge that is rated for 500,000 folds. The chassis is made of Xiaomi's in-house composite fiber that is 25% stronger than its predecessor and offers up to 42% more tensile strength.
Like many flagship smartphones that came before it, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4's cameras are tuned by Leica. The primary 50 MP sensor supports OIS. It is accompanied by a 50 MP telephoto sensor (2x optical zoom), a 10 MP periscope lens (5x optical zoom) and a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Both the cover and inner screens come with a 16 MP camera for selfies. You can record video at 8K 24 FPS, 4K 60 FPS, 1080p 960 FPS and 720p 1,920 FPS.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, dual-frequency GPS (L1 + L5), NFC, and two-way satellite communication (calls and texts). A USB 3.2 Type-C port facilitates charging and data transfer. For biometric authentication, a fingerprint sensor is baked into the power button.The entry-level Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 variant with 12 GB RAM/256 GB storage costs RMB 9,000 (EUR 1,134). Its top-spec variant with 1 TB storage and 16 GB RAM will set you back by RMB 11,000 (EUR 1,387).
