Record thin Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 and Xiaomi Mix Flip with similar Leica camera specs according to the latest leaks
Those looking for a particularly thin foldable are advised to take a look at certain models from Honor and Vivo. Last year's Honor Magic V2 is available globally and measures 4.7 mm or 4.8 mm when unfolded, depending on the model, and weighs between 231 and 237 grams. The new Vivo X Fold (Non-Pro) is even lighter at 219 grams and similarly thin at 4.7 mm, while the Pro model, the Vivo X Fold3 Pro, weighs 236 grams, is 5.2 mm thin and is more compelling in regard to the camera.
Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold5 (available here at Amazon) is far behind in this competition of the thinnest and lightest foldables, and it remains to be seen just how thin and light the Galaxy Z Fold6 expected in the summer will actually be. But there will also be many more competitors on the market in 2024, such as from Xiaomi, as confirmed by the latest information from leaker Digital Chat Station (1, 2). At around 22x grams, the Mix Fold 4 is expected to be very light and also record thin, despite a waterproof and robust foldable chassis.
Similar Leica camera specs of Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 and Mix Flip
Both the successor to the Mix Fold 3 and the first Xiaomi foldable phone, potentially called the Mix Flip, are also expected to feature very similar camera hardware, although the former will offer more sensors. Specifically, according to recent leaks, also from another leaker on Weibo (see screenshots above), both foldables feature the same 1/1.55 inch 50 MP Omnivision OV50E sensor with OIS for the main camera and a 1/2.8 inch 60 MP OV60A for dual zoom and portrait shots.
In addition to the dual cam, the Mix Fold 4 offers a 13 MP OV13B ultra-wide angle and a 5x periscope telephoto based on a 10 MP SSK3K1 sensor, according to the leak. The Mix Fold 4 can be expected to feature Leica branding again, but this is also likely to apply to the Mix Flip. According to the leaker, the Xiaomi-Leica team is once again focusing on very bright cameras with large apertures, and wireless charging is also on board. According to earlier clues, the Mix Flip will be launched globally, while the Mix Fold 4, in contrast to very early rumors, will only be launched in China in the third quarter of 2024.
