Infinix' inaugural foldable smartphone spotted in pre-launch leak
One of the world's next clamshell-style foldable Android smartphones has been registered with the FCC as the Infinix X6962, although it is also said to be introduced as the Zero Flip on its launch.
Like most devices of its category, it is now cleared to use 5G - then again, its 70W wired charging would blow the stubbornly sedate Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 out of the water.
Ad additional TÜV safety assessment claims to have found that the X6962's dual batteries have a combined rated capacity of 4,590mAh (3,410mAh in 1 half of the phone and 1,180mAh in the other), which could be rounded up to as much as 5,000mAh for marketing purposes - again, an impressive figure compared to the Z Flip6.
The FCC has also revealed that it seems to have a fairly generous cover display that, moreover, engulfs dual rear cameras à la the Motorola Razr+ 2024 - although the lens rings are in the opposite orientation in the case of the "Zero Flip".
The unit of the X6962 that went to the FCC was finished in Titanium Black and had 512GB of internal storage.
Then again, it also had 8GB of RAM (and no evidence of wireless charging thus far), whereas the Z Flip6 now starts with 12GB on Amazon: a fact that might put Infinix' first-ever clamshell in the same price-band as the Nubia Flip 5G.
