Pre-orders for Motorola's latest foldable clamshell smartphone, have been declared open in the US. Like the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6, the Razr Plus 2024 (or Razr+ 2024) has an OS based on Android 14, yet may have the superior display technology, not to mention dual 50MP main rear cameras and a vegan leather back in several new colors.

Motorola must be confident in its new flagship foldable smartphone, as it has waited until the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 had been announced to start taking pre-orders for the Razr+ 2024

The 2 devices look a lot alike - until you notice that the new Razr+ has more cover display real estate than both the Z Flip6 and its own predecessor. It is still also the only new foldable smartphone with a 165Hz refresh rate, even for its main pOLED display.

The Z Flip6 does technically have the more powerful SoC - nevertheless, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3-powered Razr+ 2024 remains the more affordable handset right now, with $100 off its RRP of $999 while it is up for pre-order. It comes in vegan leather finished in new colors such as Hot Pink as well as the more familiar Motorola x Pantone Peach Fuzz.

Then again, the highly comparable Razr+ 2023 remains the even cheaper option at $649 on Amazon - however, it should be noted that the former flagship is still on Android 13 while its successor has debuted with Android 14 (with extra added AI features such as a Google Gemini-powered assistant and Magic Canvas wallpapers) out of the box.
