Up Network has unveiled Up Mobile, which is claimed to be the first smartphone to offer advantages of both blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI). The company says that it's built on the Move programming language created by Facebook, and it aims to deliver "Web3 first user experience."

The Up Mobile is a new smartphone by Up Network that aims to make Web3 accessible to everyone. It's not just another Android phone with a skin, though. The company says that the device is based on the Facebook-created Move programming language, and it's said to be the first smartphone to offer advantages of both artificial intelligence and blockchain technology.

Roy Liu, the company's co-founder, argues that most Web3 apps are either "banned or handicapped" for the "unfriendly terms" on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Up Network wants to overcome this and start an "era of consumer web3 revolution."

The company further says that the AI algorithms of the device will deliver "pioneering levels" of security and privacy. Its operating system integrates local large language models (LLMs) to assist with day-to-day tasks, similar to Galaxy AI on Galaxy S24 Ultra (512 GB curr. $1,249 on Amazon). However, as AI operations are on-device, Up Network highlights that they will provide better reliability and increased privacy.

Beyond these, the Up Network shared the core specs of the smartphone. It is powered by the Dimensity 8200 processor, which is paired with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The front of Up Mobile features a 6.95-inch display with FHD+ resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate.

On the back, the Up Mobile has three cameras, with the primary one being a 100 MP sensor. It's joined by 8 MP and 2 MP sensors, which the company hasn't provided much detail about, but the first could be a wide-angle, while the latter is likely a depth or macro camera.

Other than that, the phone packs a 5000 mAh battery, and it's planned to be released in October 2024. The price is set at $699, and the preorders will open on Up Network's website in July 2024.
