The OnePlus Nord 3 (curr. €397 on Amazon.de) launched as the first of the Nord series of smartphones with support for three years of software updates and four years of security updates. This means the phone, which launched with Android 13, will be upgraded through to Android 16. It should also receive security updates until 2027. For the Nord 4, OnePlus seems to be taking it even further if this info turns out to be true.
According to a post made on X by Ishan Agarwal, the OnePlus Nord 4 will receive 4 years of Android OS upgrades. The phone should launch with Android 14, so it should be upgraded through to Android 18. This matches the number of OS upgrades OnePlus flagships such as the OnePlus 12 (available on Amazon for $799) will receive.
In addition to that, the OnePlus Nord 4 will also receive 6 years of security updates! This is a big deal as there isn't a OnePlus phone with support for 6 years of security updates. Not even the OnePlus 12 and the OnePlus Open, as both phones are only scheduled to receive 5 years of security updates.
OnePlus Nord 4 will be the brand's FIRST device with 6 years of security updates support.

Very good move. Hoping it only gets better. Thoughts? #OnePlusNord4 pic.twitter.com/Yhm8jZ49ss
A lot of manufacturers have begun taking software support a bit more seriously. Google offers 7 years of OS upgrades and security updates for the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 8a. Samsung has also committed to the same duration for its flagship phones.
While a fair share of people will not hold on to their phones for that long, they can rest assured that their phones will continue to receive new features and security patches even for the period they have it in their possession. Also, those who buy used devices know they are picking up a phone that is still supported by the manufacturer.
