Razr 2023: Motorola teases release and features as new leaks reveal Razr 40 Ultra global model name
Motorola is finally ready to start talking about a next-generation Razr smartphone following a slew of leaks about two potential models. As always, Motorola has begun by teasing a new Razr on Weibo. By contrast, the company has not mentioned even the Edge 40 on its global social media channels yet, let alone a next-generation Razr product.
So far, Motorola has not revealed a release date for its next Razr smartphone. However, it has hinted that the device will contain a 'large external screen', which has already been shown in various leaks. Additionally, the company claims that it has achieved a 'new breakthrough' with regards to the display's refresh rate. Potentially, this could mean that the cover display will also have a 144 Hz refresh rate like its internal counterpart, or Motorola has brought the 165 Hz refresh rate from the Edge 40 Pro to its new Razr.
Regardless, several sources suggest that Motorola has settled on 'Razr 40 Ultra' as the global version's model name. So far, the name has been seen at the TDRA in the UAE on Geekbench and in leaked promotional material that Evan Blass shared on Twitter. The Razr 40 Ultra also appears to utilise the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 too, which should come as no surprise considering its predecessor's reliance on the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. Currently, Motorola is expected to launch the Razr 40 Ultra globally on June 1 in Madrid alongside a cheaper 'Lite' model.
