Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 tipped to launch as a thinner and lighter foldable flagship compared to 2023 rival

The third-gen Xiaomi Mix Fold is now said to launch as a foldable smartphone with the updated Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. More alleged specs have emerged for the supposedly upcoming super-flagship Android smartphone, which may indicate both advantages and disadvantages over the new Vivo X Fold 2 with the same SoC.

The often-reliable leaker Digital Chat Station has heaped praise on the Vivo X Fold2 for its ability to support "26 minute" 120W wired charging (not to mention a 50W wireless mode) despite having a foldable form-factor. However, according to the same tipster, these bragging rights might be safe from a potential upcoming competitor.

Now that Xiaomi's 13 Ultra is finally official, its putative foldable counterpart the Mix Fold 3 might be on the way. It is backed to launch as a super-premium Android device with the same 8 Gen 2 platform as the latest Ultra - however, it may fail to upgrade in some other ways.

It is now forecast to launch with 67W charging - same as the preceding Mix Fold 2. Then again, its successor is also tipped to be "much thinner and lighter" than the X Fold2 - hopefully, that will not make its camera hump stick out further in 2023.
