Samsung is expected to bring in several changes with the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip5. While the Galaxy Z Flip4 offered a rather conventional letterbox cover display, the Z Flip5's implementation is purported to be actually quite useful.
We've been hearing rumors that the Z Flip5 will sport a 3.4-inch cover display or external screen. Now, @UniverseIce has tweeted that this display will sport a resolution of 720 x 748 pixels.
Although the interface in the image posted by the leaker is just a mockup, Max Jambor from All About Samsung claims that the Z Flip5's cover display will include lots of additional functionality and improved widget support over the Z Flip4.
The Samsung Z Flip5 is still somewhat shrouded in mystery. A recent Geekbench listing indicated that the Z Flip5 will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy SoC found in the Galaxy S23 lineup. That being said, with the phone likely to launch sometime in August, a Plus variant of the 8 Gen 2 is not out of the realm of possibility either.
The camera setup is rumored to be similar to what we have seen with the Galaxy Z Flip4 and that includes a 12 MP main and a 12 MP ultra-wide. The Galaxy Z Fold5, on the other hand, would be getting a 50 MP main, 12 MP ultra-wide, and a 10 MP telephoto lens. If true, the Galaxy Z Flip5's dual-camera setup might not seem enticing at first glance, but Samsung could very well introduce much improved sensors to compensate.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 will face ominous competition from the likes of the Moto Razr 40 Ultra, which is purported to sport a cover display with a resolution of 1,056 x 1,066.
