The Galaxy Z Flip4 may have had a harder time being taken seriously compared to its 'full-sized' Z Fold counterparts and even other clamshell foldables such as the OPPO Find N2 Flip, thanks in large part to its relatively tiny strips of cover display that partially defeat the purpose of its foldable nature.
The upcoming next-gen "Flip5", on the other hand, is thought to take at least one step in the opposite direction with its rumored secondary screen upgrade. Now, it is also reportedly destined for another feature that might go well with its supposed 'File Explorer icon' shape.
Samsung cut the Z Fold4, but not the Z Flip4, in on the DeX "desktop experience" in 2022, even though Motorola did empower the Razr 2022 with its Ready For equivalent. However, this disparity has allegedly been addressed in 2023 with the Flip5.
If so, it may be better able to compete with the presumably comparable Razr 40 series, and prove a more convincing alternative to conventional vanilla flagships such as the S23 or S23+ in the near future.
In the meantime, the Galaxy S23 might be the more sensible buy for right now.
