Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 announced: Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, IPX8 waterproofing, and a 3700 mAh battery

At the Galaxy Unpacked August 2022, Samsung has revealed its next generation, pocket-friendly foldable device, the Galaxy Z Flip4. At first galance, the Galaxy Z Flip4 looks almost identical to the Galaxy Z Flip3. But improvements start to immerge when we dive a little deeper.

The Galaxy Z Flip4 is an overall smaller device than the Z Flip3, measuring 84.9 x 71.9 x 17.1 mm in the closed state and 165.2 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm when unfolded. The frame of the phone is made from Armor Aluminum with a frosted Gorilla Glass Victus back. There is a side-mounted fingerprint reader present as well.

The displays on the Galaxy Z Flip4 have also remained largely unchanged. The outer screen is a 1.9 inches Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 260 x 512 pixels. Once unfolded, the inner 2640 x 1080 FHD+ Super AMOLED panel measures 6.7 inches. The inner display has an Adaptive refresh rate that can vary between 1 and 120 Hz depending upon the on-screen content.

Samsung has outfitted the Galaxy Z Flip4 with two outer and one inner camera. Both the wide and the ultra-wide outer shooters are 12 MP. The wide-angle camera enjoys Dual Pixel autofocus, optical image stabilization (OIS), a pixel size of 1.18 μm, an F1.8 aperture, and an 83° field of view. The ultra-wide camera retains the 123° FOV of the Z Flip3 with an F2.2 lens, and a 1.12 μm pixel size.

The inner camera is 10 MP with an F2.4 aperture, 1.22 μm, and an FOV of 80°.

Moving on, the Galaxy Z Flip4 is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with 8 GB of LPDDR5 memory and 128 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Finally, a 3700 mAh battery that supports 25 W wired fast charging and 10 W wireless charging keeps the show running. The device also supports Wireless PowerShare.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 will be available on (release date) in a bunch of different colors including Bora Purple, Graphite, Pink Gold, and Blue. The phone will also be available in a Bespoke Edition. The 8 GB + 128 GB model will start at €1,099 /US$999, while the top of the line 512 GB model will set you back €1279 (US$).
