Lenovo has finally announced a firm release date for the Legion Y70, its next gaming smartphone. While the smartphone was rumoured to arrive on August 13, Lenovo has confirmed that the Legion Y70 will debut on August 18. Specifically, Lenovo will commence its launch event at 19:00 China Standard Time (CST), or 11:00 UTC. Unfortunately, Lenovo has not commented on whether the Legion Y70 will be available outside China.
Regardless, the company has unveiled numerous specifications ahead of the device's introduction. As the images below show, the Legion Y70 has a 6.67-inch OLED display with an LTPS backplane. Additionally, the display will offer a 144 Hz refresh rate, 1,000 nits of peak brightness, a 1,500 Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+ support and Delta E <0.9 deviations. Moreover, the Legion Y70 has a centred-punch hole for a single front-facing camera.
Elsewhere, the Legion Y70 has a 50 MP primary camera with OIS, a 1/1.5-inch optical format and 2 μm-wide pixels when 4-in-1 pixel binning. Lenovo adds that the smartphone will launch with a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, a 2 MP depth of field camera and support for 8K video. Meanwhile, the Legion Y70 has a 5,100 mAh battery within a 7.99 mm chassis that supports 68 W fast charging. Pricing has not been announced yet, although the device is expected to feature 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
