Milquetoast Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 camera specs disclosed by new leak
The never-ending stream of Samsung leaks continues as August approaches. Plenty of high-profile products are slated to debut at Samsung's second Galaxy Unpacked of 2023, including the Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Watch6, and maybe even the Galaxy S23 FE. However, the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 will be the event's highlights. Twitter leaker Yogesh Brar has now shed light on some of their camera specs.
The Galaxy Z Fold5 was initially rumoured to use a 108 MP camera sensor. However, Yogesh says it will use a 50 MP sensor instead, accompanied by a 10 MP telephoto lens and a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. While this setup looks identical to that of the Galaxy Z Fold4, some, if not all, of the sensors have been updated. The Galaxy S23 Ultra's 200 MP sensor would have made a fine addition to the foldable, but it is apparently impossible.
Moving over to the Galaxy Z Flip5, it will pack two 12 MP (wide plus ultra-wide) camera sensors at the back. The actual upgrade comes in the form of the colossal 3.5-inch rear display, which was highlighted by an earlier leak. That said, the Galaxy Z Flip series needs a camera upgrade, as it has used the same 12 MP duo for four generations. Another leaker, @tech_reve, opines the Galaxy Z Flip6 will finally adopt a 50 MP sensor.
Other Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 specs include an improved waterdrop hinge, a wider screen, reduced weight and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy SoC. Some foldable-exclusive software features could be lined up, too, presumably baked into One UI 5.2. They'll be available in a fair few colour variants as well.
