Last month, @UniverseIce claimed that the Galaxy Z Flip5 would launch with a much larger cover display than the Galaxy Z Flip4, which maintains its predecessor's 1.9-inch panel. Since then, photos of a next-generation Motorola Razr have surfaced online, showcasing a more expansive cover display than even the Oppo Find N2 Flip.
According to the same leaker, Samsung has settled on a 3.4-inch cover display for the Galaxy Z Flip5. In other words, the display will cover most of the device's top panel, although it remains to be seen whether it will extend around its cameras, as with this year's Razr. Regardless, the Galaxy Z Flip5 will have a 79% larger cover display than its predecessor.
@UniverseIce adds that the Galaxy Z Flip5 will also feature narrower inner display bezels, with Samsung maximising screen real estate in a compact form factor. This change will work with new touchscreen technology and a waterdrop hinge to reduce the crease effect. The Galaxy Z Fold5 will utilise the same hinge and new touchscreen technology.
While the Galaxy Z Fold5 will not receive a bigger cover display, the 254 g foldable will appear thinner courtesy of its improved hinge technology. Purportedly, the Galaxy Z Fold5 will be approximately 13 mm thick, which would be nearly 3 mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold4 at its thickest point. Unsurprisingly, Samsung will equip both foldables with the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy as the Galaxy S23 series.
