According to new reports, Samsung has finalised specifications for the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 that will allow the pair to appear gapless when closed. The Galaxy Z Fold series will go on another diet this year too, but the Galaxy Z Fold5 will still be noticeably heavier than the Oppo Find N2.

Samsung is working towards releasing the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 later this year, with the pair likely due in late summer or early autumn. According to @UniverseIce, Samsung has finalised the specifications of both models. However, the leaker is keeping a few details back for now, such as the aspect ratio and resolution of the Galaxy Z Fold5's cover display. With that said, @UniverseIce asserts that the Galaxy Z Fold5 will have a 6.2-inch cover display, matching its predecessor.

Meanwhile, @chunvn8888 claims to have obtained details about how much the Galaxy Z Fold5 will weigh, which @UniverseIce has not disclosed. Although @chunvn8888 has not shared any details about the weight of the Galaxy Z Flip5, they believe that it and the Galaxy Z Fold5 will utilise an in-house raindrop hinge to achieve a gapless effect when closed. Reputedly, Samsung will continue to reduce the weight of its large foldable from generation to generation, as did with the 3 g change from the Galaxy Z Fold3 to Galaxy Z Fold4.

At the time of writing, @chunvn8888 states that the Galaxy Z Fold5 will be 9-12 g lighter than its predecessor, which tipped the scales at 263 g. Hence, the Galaxy Z Fold5 could come in at between 251 g and 254 g. By contrast, the Pixel Fold is rumoured to be heavier than the Galaxy Z Fold4. Still, the Galaxy Z Fold5 will not match the Oppo Find N2, which weighs as little as 233 g. In other words, the Galaxy Z Fold5 will carry at least 7.7% more mass than the current lightest large-screen foldable smartphone.
