Xiaomi 13 Ultra: New leaks surface for upcoming flagship
Yesterday, Xiaomi announced plans to launch the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, roughly a week after the company teased a new 'Open Day' in China. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be the fourth model in the Xiaomi 13 series for most markets, albeit not in China. For context, Xiaomi offers the CIVI 2 as the Xiaomi 13 Lite outside its home market, despite the lack of similarities between it and the Xiaomi 13 or the Xiaomi 13 Pro.
Now, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra has been discovered on the TÜV Rheinland database, a sure sign that it is on the verge of a European release. According to Kacper Skrzypek, Xiaomi will sell the Xiaomi 13 Ultra in China, Europe, Russian and Taiwan, as well as other countries that it includes on its Global MIUI software branch. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is not expected to come to India, Indonesia or Turkey though, with a Japanese release also unlikely.
Meanwhile, a shipment of Xiaomi 13 Ultra units has already been spotted on Weibo. While the image below shows the device with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, Xiaomi will probably at least match the 512 GB storage offering of the Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi 12S Ultra and the Mi 11 Ultra. Currently, Xiaomi is expected to equip the Xiaomi 13 Ultra with the same base specifications as the Xiaomi 13 Pro.
However, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is rumoured should feature a 5x optical zoom camera based around the Sony IMX858 (50 MP), which will also underpin its 3.2x optical zoom and ultra-wide-angle cameras. Unsurprisingly, the Sony IMX989 found in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and the Xiaomi 13 Pro will return as the Xiaomi 13 Ultra's primary camera too.
