Last week, Xiaomi officially confirmed its plans to release its range-topping flagship phone for the year, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, later this month. The company has now finally provided an exact date for the launch of the premium phone as well.
As revealed this morning on its official pages, Xiaomi will debut the Xiaomi 13 Ultra on April 18. "Thrilled to announce our latest innovation - #Xiaomi13Ultra," company CEO Lei Jun revealed on Twitter a few hours ago." Co-engineered with Leica, this masterpiece redefines mobile imaging with its revolutionary camera technology. Join me to witness a new era of mobile optical imaging on April 18th, 19:00 GMT+8."
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will, of course, be a camera-centric smartphone, just like its predecessors. It will retain the type 1-inch 50 MP IMX989 that debuted on last year's Xiaomi 12S Ultra, but hopefully, introduce other imaging improvements that will see it stand at the peak of smartphone photography. In any case, as revealed previously, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will launch in China and globally on the same date, but will not be available outside China immediately.
While the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be the star of the show next week, it appears Xiaomi is preparing its next-gen tablets, the Xiaomi Pad 6 series to launch alongside the flagship. Company executive Lu Weibing recently confirmed the imminent release of the tablets, and it would be logical for them to launch at the same event as the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. At least two Xiaomi Pad 6 models are expected: one with a Snapdragon 870, and another with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
