MagyarMWC 2023 | Xiaomi 13 Lite debuts as new global mid-range smartphone
Xiaomi has introduced the Xiaomi 13 Lite, the cheapest member in the Xiaomi 13 series outside China. As expected, the Xiaomi 13 Lite is a re-branded CIVI 2, which debuted last September in Xiaomi's home market. For some reason, Xiaomi has elected against releasing all colour options in other markets. The Xiaomi 13 Lite is not available with 12 GB of RAM; Xiaomi sells the CIVI 2 with three memory options in China.
Supposedly, there will be a Xiaomi 13 Lite with 256 GB of storage at some point. However, we cannot find any references to this storage option outside Xiaomi's press release. Unfortunately, Xiaomi pre-installs the Xiaomi 13 Lite with MIUI 14 based on Android 12 too, not Android 13. Xiaomi has not confirmed how many OS updates the Xiaomi 13 Lite will receive either. Hence, the Xiaomi 13 Lite may finish on Android 14 rather than Android 16, like the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. In summary, the Xiaomi 13 Lite contains the following hardware, which is unchanged from the CIVI 2 apart from a change with one of its front-facing cameras:

Surprisingly, Xiaomi has swapped out the second 32 MP front-facing camera in the CIVI 2 for an 8 MP depth camera. The Xiaomi 13 Lite is already orderable in the UK, where it is available at a slight discount until March 3. Specifically, Xiaomi is offering the Xiaomi 13 Lite for £419, a £30 reduction from its £449 MSRP. The company is not offering any pre-order bonuses though, as is the case with the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro in some markets.
Conversely, Xiaomi will not begin selling the Xiaomi 13 Lite until March 8 in the Eurozone. For reference, the Xiaomi 13 Lite will retail for €499 in the Eurozone. All markets receive the same Black, Lite Blue and Lite Pink colourways with a sole 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage option. Please see Xiaomi's website for more details.
