The supposed Sony Xperia 1 V price and Xperia 10 V price have been leaked for a number of markets. While the alleged price for the Mark 5 version of the Xperia 1 might startle newcomers to the smartphone scene, long-term fans of the Sony devices might actually see it as a double-edged sword.

Leaked Sony Xperia 1 V and Xperia 10 V price tags for a number of key markets have purportedly been shared on Weibo. While it’s important to immediately take everything with a pinch of salt here, the figures offered do have an air of credibility, with the Xperia 1 V price particularly being both favorable and unfavorable depending on how it’s viewed. According to the leak, the Xperia 1 V will be priced at US$1,599 and €1,399 (~US$1,475) for the US and Europe, respectively, with the price in Taiwan standing at 36,990 TWD (~US$1,205) and the price for Hong Kong listed as 9,699 HKD (~US$1,236).

As for the Sony Xperia 10 V price, it seems the US and Europe market prices are “unknown” but the Taiwan price is 16,328 TWD (~US$532) and the Hong Kong price is mentioned as 3,799 HKD (~US$484). They are certainly believable price tags for two of the several 2023 Xperia devices that are expected for this year, and there will likely be some mixed feelings in regard to the high amount of US$1,599 that may be required for the Xperia 1 V. It is clearly a huge figure, even for a premium flagship, with competitors like the Samsung S23 Ultra costing from US$1,199.99 and the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max starting at US$1,099.

The ”bad” news is that there were some rumors that the Sony Xperia 1 V would be cheaper, possibly even at the same level as the S23 Ultra, which would have created quite a ripple in the smartphone market. The “good” news is that if this price rumor is true, the Xperia 1 V will be priced at the same mark as the Xperia 1 IV, therefore a 0% rise. Considering the Sony Xperia 1 IV was 68% more expensive than the Xperia 1 and 23.1% dearer than the Xperia 1 III, a 0% price rise may actually be something for the loyal Xperia fanbase to cheer about. Fewer design changes and cheaper production costs could have actually played a part in this potential price freeze – presuming it’s true.
