The Sony Xperia 1 V is clearly going to be more of the same in terms of design language, if renders shared by GreenSmartphones and @OnLeaks end up being the real deal. But it could be argued that Sony has almost perfected the look of its premium Xperia 1 devices and only needs to consider an annual design refinement while focusing more on the internal hardware upgrades and top-notch software. The familiar tall and slender frame for the Xperia 1 V is on show and the front side reveals narrow bezels with the selfie camera (rumored 12 MP sensor) integrated into the top bezel.
The main design difference between the Sony Xperia 1 V and Xperia 1 IV shown here is the camera housing. The bump now contains all of the sensors, including the flash, which makes it look tidier. The actual housing also seems to have a sloped edge rather than a straight one. On the top edge there is room for a 3.5 mm audio jack and on the bottom edge there is a USB-C port. There are hardware buttons for the power (with fingerprint reader), camera shutter, and volume on the side, and the Xperia 1 V cuts a fine figure in its purple livery. The device apparently measures 161.0 mm x 69.3 mm x 8.5 mm.
As for the expected specifications, there is some hope for up to 16 GB RAM to join the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor while a 5,000-mAh battery keeps the 6.5-inch Sony Xperia 1 V running. The camera equipment apparently consists of 12 MP (main) + 48 MP (wide) + 12 MP (telephoto) sensors, but this is still in the rumor stage. The source reckons Sony will announce the Xperia 1 V in February and start sales at some point in the summer months. No predicted price tag is suggested, but there have been murmurs that Sony might be willing to offer the 2023 Xperia 1 at a competitive (in terms of high-end premium smartphones) rate.
