New Sony Xperia smartphone like the 10 V or rumored Ace IV could arrive in a rainbow-busting range of colors
A somewhat tenuous report has claimed that Sony will deliver an Xperia smartphone in 2023 with at least seven color choices, with perhaps even more than that being available. The source of the information is supposedly the Chinese social media site Weibo via Reddit, but there appears to be no corroborating evidence at the moment, so pinch-of-salt time. It has been opined that it would not be the premium Xperia 1 V or Xperia 5 V that would come with such a range of color options, and that it would be more likely a less-expensive Xperia model such as the Xperia 10 V or the rumored Xperia Ace IV.
The text of the leak purportedly reads “I don't know which model it is, but the new Xperia will be very colorful. There will be at least 7 color variations.” Strangely enough, this leak was reported just before a user on the Esato forum complained about the lack of colors for the Xperia 1 line, suggesting that as well as the usual black, white, and purple, Sony could also consider introducing options such as yellow, violet, silver, pink, orange, gold, and light blue. There are also recent precedents for green and red, with the former being a choice with the Xperia 5 IV and the latter offering a sharp look for the Sony Xperia 5.
In fact, it doesn’t take too much of a stretch of imagination to believe that Sony would go for a rainbow-busting range of colors for an upcoming affordable or mid-range Xperia device, such as the Xperia 10 V or the much hoped-for compact Xperia Ace IV. Such generous choices have existed before in the Sony smartphone world, when the company’s devices were issued under the Sony Ericsson brand. For example, the W595 Walkman phone from 2008 came in seven main color options: Active Blue, Cosmopolitan White, Jungle Grey, Ruby Black, Lava Black, Peachy Pink, and Sandy Gold.
