The purported specifications for the Sony Xperia 10 V have been leaked on the Weibo social media site (and later posted on Reddit). Although the machine translation of the Chinese text actually states “upcoming mid-range Xperia”, this would indicate news about the Mark 5 variant of the Xperia 10, especially when the specifications are taken into consideration. As has previously been reported, the Android smartphone will apparently sport a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC. Although this 4-nm chip has the same peak CPU clock speed as the 6-nm Snapdragon 695 (2.2 GHz), it comes with enhanced Wi-Fi speed support and can handle LPDDR5 memory at 3,200 MHz (695: LPDDR4x at 2,133 MHz).
The leaker also describes the supposed Sony Xperia 10 V’s display, and it could easily be mistaken for the one in the Xperia 10 IV apart from a potential measurement difference. So, like its predecessor, the Xperia 10 V gets a 21:9 OLED with a 1080 x 2520 (FHD+) resolution. However, where the 2022 model has a 6-inch display, the 2023 variant will go all the way up to 6.1 inches. The minimal changes continue with the memory and storage configuration, with the 6 GB + 128 GB combination making a return. It is likely Xperia fans would have liked to have seen a boost in this department at the very least.
Fortunately, there is another minimal upgrade to be found in the power specifications. The Sony Xperia 10 V will supposedly still be limited to a 30 W charging speed, like the Xperia 10 IV, but there is a small bump in the battery capacity: 5,150 mAh vs. 5,000 mAh. One the one hand, it’s hard to believe the full specifications for the Xperia 10 V have already been leaked considering it probably won’t appear before the second quarter of 2023. But on the other hand, it’s very easy to believe that Sony won’t do much to change its mid-range Xperia model, with more focus perhaps lying on making the Xperia 1 V the Android smartphone to beat.
