OPPO Find N2 can now act as a digital key for NIO electric cars
Neither car-makers nor mobile tech OEMs can seem to wait for the day when vehicles get so smart that they can be secured using the driver's smartphone alone. Now, NIO has made an effort to make this future more of a reality by bringing this keyless entry to owners with certain compatible handsets.
The manufacturer's new smartphone-as-car-key feature is exclusive to the BBK Electronics group at present, although it does apply to a range of devices from a number of its brands, all of which are big in NIO's native China.
They include OnePlus Ace-series phones, as well as those from the flagship OPPO Find X and N lines. The new collaboration also extends to the leading brands Vivo, so that smartphones from the high-end X and mid-range S lines can also be digital keys, as can devices such as the new iQOO 11- and Neo-series premium smartphones.
The new feature is compatible with NIO vehicles based on the NT 2.0 platform, which include the EC7, ET5, ES7 and award-winning ET7.
