Xiaomi has unveiled the K100 laser printer in China. The gadget is particularly compact, with a footprint not much bigger than an A4 piece of paper; the printer measures 331 x 215 x 178 mm (~13.0 x 8.5 x 7.0-in). The device can print around 20 pages per minute with a 600 x 600 DPI print quality. However, it is worth noting that the gadget can only print in black and white.
The K100 printer comes with an app which you can use to scan documents, save them as a PDF and print copies. The app also provides a range of printable educational content for children. You can connect to the home office printer via USB 2.0 or wirelessly print from your Wi-Fi-connected smartphone, tablet or laptop. Alternatively, you can use an NFC tap-to-print feature.
The input tray can hold 150 sheets of paper, and the included toner cartridge can print 700 pages. Xiaomi suggests this new model is more reliable than its predecessors, though it needs to provide data to substantiate this claim. You can now buy the Xiaomi Laser Printer K100 in China for the discounted price of 849 yuan (~US$124). At the end of March, the price will increase to 899 yuan (~US$131). It is unclear whether or when the device could launch in other markets.
