RE'ST concept blind speaker for LG with built-in projector revealed
The RE'ST, a concept 2-in-1 blind speaker device for LG, has been unveiled. The project was a collaboration between the Korea Design Membership and LG Electronics, intending to design a gadget to improve your lifestyle, particularly at the start and end of the day. The automatic blind has a projector on its back that can be used to show videos or your daily calendar on the rolling display. Also at the speaker's rear are mood lights, which can cast colored lights onto your wall.
Brackets are used to mount the device above the window, angled at 10° to deliver powerful audio even when placed high on the wall. LEDs on the front of the device indicate the volume of the speaker, and the accompanying LG RE'ST ASSISTANT remote control can be used to adjust the speaker or blind's settings. For example, you can adjust the color and brightness of your mood lighting with the gadget. Plus, you can use the assistant to track your daily routine, reminding you of upcoming tasks and logging completed actions. The concept gadget is shown in three colorways, in natural tones.
The project team included HoChul Shin, Jiun Park, Minji Kim and Seungjun Jeon. As this is a concept device, specific details such as the speaker set-up and maximum projector brightness have yet to be provided. It is unclear whether LG intends to launch the RE'ST blind speaker in the future.
