Previous gen high-end laptop GPUs from Nvidia are seeing hefty price cuts as the new RTX 4000-series are hitting the market. An MSI GP66 model with RTX 3080, for instance, can now be snagged for as little as US$1,599.99 at BestBuy. The Intel Rocket Lake i7-11800H CPU might not impress too much anymore, but at least this variant has a 240 Hz 15.6-inch 1080p IPS display.

BestBuy does not specify exactly, but, at this price, the GPU most likely comes with 8 GB VRAM instead of 16 GB. Thankfully, there is a MUX switch that offers exclusive operation for the dGPU along with overclocking capabilities and 140 W TGP. This particular MSI 66GP model also packs 16 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and 1 TB of NVMe SSD storage (presumably PCIe 4.0). Wireless connectivity is provided via a Wi-Fi 6E + BT 5.2 Intel Killer card, but the NIC has an unspecified maximum speed (up to 2.5 Gbps according to the MSI site).

Port selection is surprisingly missing USB-C connectivity. There are only 3x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, HDMI 2.1 and miniDP video outputs plus audio and net jacks. Other features include 2x 2 W speakers with Hi-Res audio support , per-key RGB keyboard, 720p webcam and a 65 Wh battery. Chassis profile measures 2.34 cm and weight is 5.2 lbs.
