Microsoft declared the new name for the Xbox Game Pass for PC subscription service to be PC Game Pass. The company rebranded the service to avoid confusion and to appeal to PC gamers. The Game Pass service has come a long way since its initial launch on PC in 2019 with a slew of high-profile releases.

Microsoft renamed Xbox Game Pass for PC to PC Game Pass in order to eliminate misunderstanding and simplify the platform's branding.

After being available on Xbox home consoles, Game Pass was released for PC in June 2019 under the branding of Xbox Game Pass for PC. Since then, Microsoft’s subscription service has seen amazing growth and reportedly reached a staggering 23 million users as of April 2021.

With the popularity of Game Pass, Microsoft decided to acknowledge the name recognition of the service and refocus the branding on the PC gaming platform. Thus, PC Game Pass is the new name of the service marketed towards PC gamers, as announced in an official tweet.

Following the success of Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5, the PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass user bases are undoubtedly expected to grow. Furthermore, subscribers on PC can look forward to playing the highly anticipated Total War: WARHAMMER III in early 2022, which is a PC exclusive and will be available on PC Game Pass at launch.

New players can join PC Game Pass now and get their first three months for $1.
